School Leaders' Message

Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’  Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

Welcome back to school after the June holidays. I trust that our girls have used their holidays productively to catch up with their work. Our teachers would also have done much during the break to refine their teaching resources so that they can help our girls more effectively in Term 3 and to prepare them for the challenges in Term 4. Indeed, our teachers’ day is never really over when students go home at the end of the school day. Unseen by many are the countless hours the teachers put in to prepare for lessons, mark, plan for CCA and provide additional support to students of different needs. They do these so wholeheartedly because they care deeply for every one of their students. With Teacher’s Day round the corner, the best appreciation that students can show their teachers is the same amount of passion and effort towards their learning so that teaching becomes even more fulfilling for our teachers.

At CHIJ SJC, we take pride in preparing and guiding our girls to meet the challenges of the future. To be future-ready, our girls need to have the traits of adeptness, confidence, adaptability and resilience. There is no way we can predict the future but by making sure our girls are equipped with the necessary skills and competencies and are rooted in the core values, we know they will be ready for what lies ahead. It is therefore important that our girls must realise that academic qualifications are only one part of their journey. Active participation in CCA and other co-curricular activities will go a long way in developing their character.

Term 3 will offer many more exciting learning opportunities for our girls. As our motto goes, our desire is for every one of our IJ girls to be Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty. Therefore, as our girls participate in the rich learning in school, they must continue to uphold their duty to make a positive impact. Get out in the community, use a strong voice to help spread messages that can make a difference; work towards building a closely knit community within and outside of our school so that we can have a more cohesive society.

We wish our staff and students a fulfilling Semester Two.

Blessings,
