School Leaders' Message
‘Let us not be weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
Welcome back to Term 3 which, for the first time in history is in June.
Singapore has been undergoing an extremely trying few months due to the pandemic. In school, we are kept on our toes, as we constantly relook our processes to safeguard the well-being of our students and staff. Our teachers too have been exploring innovative ways to best engage the students, especially when the COVID situation led to the suspension of lessons. With teaching moving online, our teachers have to work even harder to redesign their materials to ensure that students’ learning is not compromised. This is a period when everyone is adjusting to what we now term as a new normal. This serves as a poignant reminder that we need to be adaptable and resolute, especially in dealing with the unforeseen circumstances brought about by COVID 19.
As we bring our staff and students back, we will continue to be vigilant in ensuring that the efforts from the Circuit Breaker will not be negated due to any negligence. The school has stepped up our efforts on the cleaning of common spaces. Our girls will also be reminded to wipe down their work stations regularly. We know more can be done and we will need everyone to play their part. We therefore urge all parents to work with us to reinforce good habits that are crucial in preventing community spread of the virus. Help our girls to be socially responsible; ensure they stay home when they are unwell. Partner us in reminding them to observe safe management measures such as wearing of their masks properly and observing social distancing. Our girls must also guard against the desire to gather in groups whether they are in school or out of school, especially when some restrictions may ease later. For our girls who feel overwhelmed by the current situation, remember that your teachers and your parents are here for you. Be assured that you will always have your parents and teachers to turn to for support to alleviate your stress and worries.
This year, many people globally and in Singapore are hit hard by the unprecedented crisis brought about by the pandemic. In Singapore, we may experience inconveniences with the introduction of numerous measures to counter COVID 19. The significant adjustments in the way we work and live have yielded results. However, the fight is still on. In this period when every effort counts, we must be patient and work hand in hand with the relevant authorities to curb the spread of COVID. Do our part to support the work of the frontline healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly since January. As IJ girls who have been internalising the school motto “Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty’, I am sure our girls will rise up to the occasion and uphold their obligations to support the community during this period, no matter how small their efforts may seem.
Stay safe and we look forward to a better Semester Two.
