Concert Band

2019 Concert Band.jpg
CHIJ SJC Concert Band features students who have mastered the skills and techniques of various instruments ranging from the woodwinds and brass instruments to the percussion. Each musician in our band is able to showcase her talent by participating actively in many intra- and interschool events every year.

The band comprises 3 main sections:
  1. Brass section – Cornet, Trombone, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba
  2. Woodwind section – Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon
  3. Percussion section – Drumset, Xylophone, Timpani, Cymbals etc.

The band actively seeks opportunities to perform in collaboration with external organisations. Exchange programmes with bands from other schools are regularly held. Past collaborators include schools from both within and beyond Singapore. Community-based events are also an avenue for our students to gain experience in handling performances.

Annual band camps (student-organised) are held to foster greater unity amongst the members through shared experiences and reflections. Students also engage the community through organising a day-camp for primary school students under the Values-In-Action programme.

Together, under the direction of our instructors and band teachers-in-charge, we aspire to live up to the school’s motto of developing Women of Integrity with a Passion to Pursue Excellence.
