CentreStage

About
CentreStage, also known as the English Drama Club, is a fun-filled CCA where students are provided with a platform to allow their imagination to go wild and breathe life into their ideas on stage. During their weekly sessions, they are taught fundamental skills of theatre such as acting and production skills. Beyond theatre work, they also learn the importance of acquiring soft skills such as self-confidence, time-management abilities as well as having good communication skills. By the end of their time in the CCA, students realise that drama goes beyond acting, and everyone from the backstage crews to the actors plays an important part in ensuring the production’s success. To further develop students, they are also exposed to a range of social issues which they will advocate for through their devised pieces. Most importantly, students learn to be open and accept each other differences while having fun and bonding as a CCA.
Objectives
- To enable members to learn to express ideas and put oneself in someone else’s shoes.
- To enable members to develop drama production skills beyond ‘acting”, such as breathing techniques, voice projection and various activities to help them portray themselves as different characters
- To provide opportunities for members to develop their leadership skills through platforms such as facilitating trainings as well as organising CCA camps.
